The Ride Against AIDS is a unique and powerful cross-country bike ride dedicated to raising funds and awareness for FACE AIDS. In June 2012 a group of dedicated student AIDS activists will begin biking in Half Moon Bay, CA. 67 days and more than 4,000 miles later, they will arrive in Boston in August 2011. Along the way they will give presentations about FACE AIDS, the HIV/AIDS pandemic, and the role of students in promoting social justice.
First undertaken in 2007 by two friends, the Ride is now an annual program embedded in FACE AIDS culture. Its alumni now number 16 riders from 9 different states and 3 countries. In total the Ride has raised over $130,000 for FACE AIDS and Partners In Health.
Donate! Each rider is committed to raising at least $5,000. 100% of funds raised go to Partners In Health and FACE AIDS' programs in Rwanda, providing comprehensive health care and socio-economic support to HIV-affected individuals.
Give an in-kind donation! The riders need food, drinks, biking gear and camping gear to help them along the way. In-kind donations are much appreciated.
Provide housing! The riders will be staying with FACE AIDS supporters, friends, and family along the way. If you have couches or floor space, consider hosting them for a night.
Set up speaking engagements! The riders are working to arrange speaking engagements at community centers, schools, clubs and homes to talk about FACE AIDS and the AIDS pandemic. Help them set up a chance to speak in your community.
