Kent FACE AIDS Chapter Emphasizes Education and Awareness
FACE AIDS Kent chapter coordinator Alexandra Hill said the organization will be setting up informational tables and offering additional HIV awareness programs. "We are partnering up with AMSA (American Medical Student Association), Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Student Center to hand out safer-sex packets, host sex-educational games and hand out an assortment of different informational pamphlets about AIDS," Hill said. Flyers for a free and confidential AIDS testing via University Health Services will also be handed out. Face AIDS will also be hosting an informational HIV film Thursday at 7 p.m. in Room 319 of the Student Center. "We're also trying to get a doctor to talk there in an open forum about HIV/AIDS," Hill said. Hill said World AIDS Day is important because it is recognized globally and allows the whole world to understand the importance of the issue. Read more...

FACE AIDS Featured in New Book: The Trouble with the Alphabet
A new book seeks to raise money for children affected by strife around the world. The Trouble with the Alphabet: Through the Eyes of Innocence is written and illustrated by Caryn West, a commercial artist with a passion for humanitarian initiatives. The book addresses the plight of hundreds of millions of children who suffer under a variety of afflictions - AIDS, poverty, hunger, war, rape, genocide, and child labor to name a few. The book features FACE AIDS as a non-profit making real change in a country afflicted by extreme poverty and disease: Rwanda. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the various featured charities, including FACE AIDS. Read more...

South Salem High School FACE AIDS to Host Benefit Concert
This separation, however, does not mean that students cannot or will not take a stand to support the causes they are passionate about. South Salem High School's Face AIDS club, which has been raising funds to combat AIDS in Africa since 2006, is an example of such activism. On Friday, South Face AIDS will be hosting a benefit concert at The Blue Pepper. FACE AIDS in Mwange Refugee Camp in Zambia continues to make progress
FACE AIDS continues to do well in Mwange. The coordinator began to incorporate post-testing into his seminar this month. The other change that has been made to the FACE AIDS program is that FACE AIDS is now having one seminar and one large sensitization each month, rather than alternating these activities monthly. To deal with the resultant cost increases, PMs decided to present the FACE AIDS project coordinator with the combined monthly budget for seminars and sensitizations. He has decided how to distribute the budget so as to make both the seminars and sensitizations function. Read more...
