My name is Laura Lynch, and I'm now in my junior year at Stanford University majoring in History. After graduation, I hope to obtain a Masters and pursue a career in Intelligence Analysis. Growing up in Rome, GA, I attended Darlington School for three years of high school and spent my sophomore year in Barcelona, Spain. In athletics and academics, I've always looked for ways to push my own limits. During my time at Stanford, I have had the opportunity to row on the lightweight crew team, learn how to rock climb, tutor kids in the area, study in Paris and join the Nu Alpha chapter of Chi Omega. Most importantly, I have met and learned from some amazing people here. For example, I first learned about the FACE AIDS Ride Against AIDS from my rowing teammates. It struck me as an incredible way to combine my love for physical challenge and an opportunity to tackle this devastating pandemic. When I heard the story of the co-founders' (Jonny, Lauren and Katie) first trip to Zambia where they met Mama Katele, I was awe-struck. I admire FACE AIDS' mission, which was able to create a global response strategy to tackle this eminent disease and make it into an obstacle that can be dealt with. I feel blessed to help spread this message and perpetuate the endeavor to understand and put a stop to HIV/AIDS.
