Hi, I'm Kirsten and I'm from Batavia, IL, a suburb of Chicago. I will be graduating/just graduated in May from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in Anthropology and African Studies. I was also a member of the IWU Cross Country and Track and Field teams. Other than running, my interests include traveling, adventures, and enjoying life.
FACE AIDS started on our campus my junior year and it immediately caught my attention since I had just returned from a semester abroad in Ghana. Ghana definitely had a huge impact on me and played a major role in shaping my passions and interests in Africa, global health issues, and culture. FACE AIDS provided me with a way to get involved while I was back home.
This ride is a great opportunity for me to mix my interests of extreme sport, personal challenge, and global health. I know our fundraising efforts and awareness campaign about HIV/AIDS is something that will truly have a positive impact on those affected by the epidemic.
I am so pumped for this summer and all of the experiences and memories we will gain from our trek. Please feel free to e-mail me for anything! kpufahl@iwu.edu.
