Organizational Overview:

FACE AIDS is building a global movement of young leaders to fight HIV/AIDS and promote global health equity.

The disparity in HIV prevalence, health outcomes, and access to quality health care between the world's rich and the world's poor is unjust and unacceptable. Combating these global health challenges requires strong leadership and innovative ideas. Many of today's youth are passionate about tackling these challenges, but often feel unsure about whether and how they can make a difference. Without a path from inspiration to action, young people do not achieve their potential impact, delaying the creation and implementation of much needed solutions to our world's inequities.

FACE AIDS mobilizes and equips emerging young leaders with the skills, resources, and peer community needed to take action to change the course of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and global health inequities. Alumni, armed with the experience and conviction that come from participation in FACE AIDS, go on to play critical leadership roles across sectors worldwide to promote health equity. Current programs are in the United and Rwanda, with plans for further international expansion.

Since its founding in 2005, FACE AIDS has:

  • Established chapters at over 200 college and high school campuses across the United States, engaging thousands of students annually;
  • Served over 1,200 Rwandan youth through leadership skills training, psycho-social support, health education, and socio-economic empowerment;
  • Employed and financially empowered over 200 HIV-affected Zambians and Rwandans through our asset-building savings, credit, and business training program;
  • Raised more than $2.3 million for Partners In Health to provide high-quality, integrated health care to the rural poor in Rwanda;
  • Been recognized for our achievements by President Bill Clinton, Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, and Dr. Paul Farmer, among others. Dr. Farmer has said, "FACE AIDS has distinguished itself through its commitment, integrity, innovation, and effectiveness in service of our patients. I give my highest recommendation to FACE AIDS."
