Dave was born in Seattle, WA on April 11, 1988. Shortly after, he and his family moved to Victoria BC, Canada where he now currently lives. Dave has a younger sister Christine, who is 19, and an older brother Nathan, who is 22. He is currently a sophomore at Stanford University and is a Mechanical Engineering candidate with a focus in alternative energy. Dave is also a member of the Rowing team at Stanford and has been rowing since he was a junior in high school, at Blair Academy in NJ. One of his favorite pastimes, when he is not busy training for Crew, is fishing and the outdoors. His interests in global health issues in Africa started at a young age when his mom, Ann, started sponsoring malnutrition children in Rwanda. After contemplating how he could best get involved with global health issues, his friend Austin Keeley suggested the idea for Ride Against AIDS as a way to promote awareness of AIDS in Africa. After much discussion and talking with previous members of this ride, Austin and Dave started to plan their sophomore's summer for the ride across the country. For Dave, this ride represented both a personal challenge and an outlet for his personal ambition to better global health issues. Personally, it provides a challenge that is of the magnitude of the cause he is perusing; while at the same time represents the perfect outlet for spreading the awareness of those suffering from AIDS in Africa. Dave is a very open, outgoing individual who would be more than willing to talk about his life experiences and share his views on the pressing issue of global health. Please feel free to contact him via email with any questions and to remember those who have less than us.
