Austin Keeley

My name is Austin Keeley and I am currently a junior at Stanford University. Last year I was one of the two bikers in the 2nd annual Ride Against AIDS. My friend Dave and I spent 61 days cycling across the country raising funds and spreading awareness for the fight against AIDS in Africa.

The ride was an extremely formative experience for me. I did not know what to expect when we rode off of campus on that bright June day, and there was no way I could have imagined the outpouring of hospitality, generosity, and goodwill that Dave and I were the recipients of all across this great country.

When I returned to campus in September of 2009, Dave and I decided to rededicate ourselves to the ride and began the process of planning, organizing, and recruiting for the 2010 ride. We had learned so much during the summer and developed an infrastructure upon which the ride could be built and grow, and wanted to be able to let others have the incredible experience that we did.

I am ecstatic for the 2010 ride and all of our great new riders: Ben, Claire, Corey, Kirsten, Michael, Sanford, Shane, and Zane. They are a phenomenal group of individuals and will be a fantastic team as they make their way across the country. I wish them the best of luck as they depart on one of the greatest adventures of their lives!
