About Us
Brenda Freiberg has been a leader in the fight against AIDS for over 15 years. She has served as the Chair of the Board of AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), and as the Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles under Mayor Richard Riordan. She has also served on the boards of Project Inform, Mothers' Voices, the Foundation for AIDS and Immune Research, and the honorary board of The Trevor Project. She has been heavily involved in the fight against AIDS in India, recently founding the Women's Center for Y.R.G. CARE in Chennai. John Goldman is a distinguished philanthropist and business leader. He has served as the President of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the President of the San Francisco Symphony, and the CEO of Richard N. Goldman & Co. Insurance Services. He is also the vice president of the Goldman Environmental Foundation and a member of the board of trustees at Swarthmore College. Dr. Basil Stamos is the chairman of Sterling Stamos Corporate Philanthropy. He is heavily involved in the fight against AIDS in Cambodia, serving on the Board of Director's of Friends Without a Border and working with the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative to fund childrens hospitals. A licensed general internest, he worked for 10 years as a doctor at the Tom Waddell Clinic in San Francisco, serving a predominantly homeless population of the city. Jonny Dorsey is the Chair of the FACE AIDS board of directors. He was a co-founder of FACE AIDS in August 2005, and served as Executive Director through September 2007. As Executive Director, he oversaw the expansion of FACE AIDS to 150 schools across the United States, and helped the organization raise $850,000 in its first two years. He has since returned to undergraduate study at Stanford University Katie Bollbach was a co-founder of FACE AIDS in August 2005, and has overseen all FACE AIDS pin making projects in Zambia and Rwanda as Africa Program Director. In 2005 she lived in Zambia, working with AIDS support groups in refugee camp to implement the pin-making projects and help the pin-makers develop sustainable business projects. She is currently in Rwanda, implementing a new round of pin-making with men and women affected by AIDS in the Kirehe district of Eastern Rwanda. Lauren Young is the Secretary of the FACE AIDS board of directors. She was a co-founder of FACE AIDS In August 2005, and served as Associate Director in 2005-2006. She is now a senior at Stanford University, and upon graduating will move to Liberia to work with the American Refugee Committee in the country. Dave Ryan, is the Executive Director of FACE AIDS. He took on the Directorship following his graduation from Stanford University in June 2007 with a degree in International Relations. |
